Oxford Learner's Dictionaries 将此含义特别标注为北美英语用法,并给出了像 push back on something 这样与 on 连用的例子。
Feel free to push back
The release was pushed back to next month
I'd split this function into two, but this is mostly a style preference. Feel free to push back if you think it reads better as is.
as is 意为“保持原样”。
I'd like to push back a little on this one. Making the field required would break existing manifests, so I'd prefer to keep it optional and add a warning instead.
This is my current thinking, but I haven't used this feature in production. Please push back if this doesn't match your experience.
- Happy to be convinced otherwise.
- Open to other ideas.
- I respectfully disagree. I'm not sure about this one, because ...
- Your opinion is wrong.
I'm not sure this works for the upgrade case. Here's why: ...
I can change it, but I want to flag a concern first: ...
- I push back your comment. push back 后面需要加 on,并且反对的对象应该是建议而不是人。
I'd like to push back on this suggestion.
I'd like to push back a bit on this. Adding a cache here could lead to stale reads, so I'd rather not add one for now.
